Chelsea Weigh Nicolas Jackson Future as Man Utd Table £74m Bid
Chelsea’s busy summer transfer window could still see one of their key forwards depart, as the club face a major decision over the future of Nicolas Jackson following a reported £74 million bid from Manchester United.
The Blues have already bolstered their squad with several signings, including Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, while Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap, Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, and Kendry Paez have also joined. Sarr and Paez, however, have immediately moved on short-term spells to sister club Strasbourg.
The arrival of attacking options like Joao Pedro and Liam Delap has sparked speculation about Jackson’s place in Enzo Maresca’s plans. While Chelsea have publicly maintained that the 24-year-old striker is “not for sale”, reports suggest the club may now be open to offers provided their wider transfer business falls into place.
Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring the Senegal international as they continue their search for a new striker. However, United are also in talks over Benjamin Šeško, while Newcastle United are seen as another possible destination for Jackson if their pursuit of Šeško fails.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea would demand a substantial fee before approving Jackson’s exit, meaning only a blockbuster bid could tempt the London club to part ways. The striker himself has yet to make his stance clear, leaving open the possibility of a transfer push from his side.
With less than two weeks until the Premier League kicks off, Chelsea must now decide whether to cash in on Jackson or keep him as competition in their refreshed attack.
