The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the transfer of two Pro-Chancellors, the action has been described as a bid to improve university governance and promote fairness, transparency, and good governance in the country’s universities.
Following what was said by the ministry’s spokesperson, Folasade Boriowo, on Monday, the transfers are part of ongoing reforms geared at creating a more conducive educational environment for Nigerian students while maintaining high standards in the nation’s universities.
“The ongoing reforms in the education system are focused on ensuring fairness, transparency, and high-level governance across all our universities, ensuring that our children receive the right education in the most conducive environment,” Boriowo quoted the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa as saying.
According to the statement, Retired Colonel Abdulmuminu Aminu from Federal University Dutsin-Ma was transferred to the Federal University Kebbi while Ali Abubakar Jatau from Federal University Birnin Kebbi was moved to Federal University Dutsin-Ma.
The Federal Ministry of Education is committed and pledges to remain committed to promoting transparency and good governance in the education sector.
Alausa emphasised that the ministry stands at the forefront of promoting transparency by making sure that principal officers in universities are appointed strictly based on merit.
The transfers according to the statement take immediate effect with the ministry expressing gratitude to both Pro-Chancellors for their dedication and service to the nation’s educational development.
