Controversial rapper, Odumodublvck has stirred up mixed reactions from people after appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide financial assistance to him and his colleagues.
While reacting to a post on Tinubu’s X handle on Friday about the President’s meeting with entertainment and media executive, Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group in Paris, Odumodublvck urged President Tinubu not only to express pride in the prestige the entertainment industry has brought to Nigeria but also to support entertainers financially.
He wrote, “Baba come give boys advance from government funds. Na you go be the biggest label boss. Because of you, artists no go fight their labels and underground artists go see something.
“Baba, come sign all of us. And I mean all of us.”
Odumodublvck faced backlash from fans who called him out for reacting to the President's Paris meeting but ignoring the persistent insecurity and economic hardship in Nigeria.
As he responded to his critics, Odumodublvck pointed out that artists hardly benefit from government support, unlike civil servants and business owners, who receive certain benefits.
He said he had yet to see an artiste whom the government had given support financially to make an album, despite entertainers, especially musicians, making the country proud globally.
“Jaga [Jagaban], give me to fly high. I deserve it, sir. Governmental backing for artists gatts dey,” he added.
Many were shocked by Odumodublvck's financial appeal to President Bola Tinubu, given he was previously celebrated for reportedly rejecting a large sum to perform at a Tinubu campaign event.
His public appeal for financial support from the President who is seeking re-election just months before Nigeria's presidential election has stirred questions about his integrity and political position.
