Man United Make Early Move for £68m-Rated Premier League Star Amid Arsenal Interest
Manchester United are actively looking to boost their attack this summer, aiming to add more goals to Ruben Amorim’s squad after a mixed season. So far, Amorim has strengthened the forward line by signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who together scored 35 Premier League goals last season almost as many as all of United’s players combined last year.
However, United missed out on earlier targets like Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap, and now their focus has turned to another Premier League standout — Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. The 27-year-old attacker has caught the eye of many clubs, with Arsenal leading the chase to sign the England international. Eze scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists last season, playing a key role in Palace’s historic FA Cup win.
Despite Arsenal’s strong interest, reports say Manchester United and Manchester City have made early contact with Eze’s representatives. Yet it remains unclear whether Eze is interested in joining Old Trafford, especially with Arsenal seemingly ahead in the race.
If United do manage to sign Eze, Amorim will face a tricky decision, since Eze plays mainly as a number 10 the same position as Cunha and Mbeumo. This might force United to sell some attackers, with Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho expected to leave. Spending a big fee on another player in a similar role would be unusual, especially since United’s bigger need is a reliable striker.
Rasmus Hojlund, United’s main striker last season, struggled to find the net, scoring just four Premier League goals. As a result, the club is actively pursuing top forwards like Moise Kean, Dusan Vlahovic, and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Kean had a standout season with Fiorentina, scoring 19 goals in Serie A. But signing Mitrovic, a seasoned Serbian international, could be a smart move, he could not only lead the attack but also mentor Hojlund to improve his game.
Beyond attack, Manchester United is reportedly interested in strengthening their defense. The club may soon compete with Nottingham Forest to sign a tough Serie A defender nicknamed “The Soldier,” signaling more transfer activity ahead.
Manchester United are active in the transfer market, juggling the need for creative attacking options and a proven striker. Whether they can outmaneuver Arsenal for Eberechi Eze or secure a top striker could shape their season’s success.
