The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly dismissed its Director of Refereeing, Désiré Noumandiez Doué, following a formal protest from Morocco over controversial officiating in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.

Nigeria's Super Falcons won the final against the host nation Morocco in a dramatic 3-2 comeback.

However, the match was marred by contentious refereeing decisions, including a penalty awarded to Nigeria and a penalty initially given to Morocco that was later overturned by VAR.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) filed an official complaint with CAF, citing "critical errors" and providing video clips to support their claims.

While Doué did not officiate the match, his responsibility for appointing referees has come under scrutiny.
His reported dismissal is seen as CAF's first disciplinary response to the controversy and a step toward addressing a wider criticism of refereeing standards in African football.
