Turkish Super Lig club Çaykur Rizespor have identified Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi as a potential target as they look to strengthen their attack.

Rizespor are searching for a new striker and have reportedly placed the Nigeria international on their shortlist, with the club also looking to reinforce other areas of the squad.

Awoniyi joined Forest from Union Berlin for €20.5m in 2022 and has made more than 100 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 23 goals.

The striker endured an injury-hit 2025/26 campaign, making 17 Premier League appearances and scoring four goals with one assist. He played 493 minutes and started only three matches, but scored twice in Forest’s 3-1 win over Chelsea and once in their 3-0 victory at Tottenham.

Awoniyi’s recurring injury problems have limited his playing time since moving to England, although he remains under contract with Forest until June 2027.

Rizespor’s interest comes as the Turkish club continue their search for attacking reinforcements, while also working on strengthening the full-back and midfield positions.

The Turkish side’s reported interest could provide Awoniyi with a potential route away from the City Ground, but there is no agreement or confirmed transfer fee at this stage.

The move therefore remains at the exploratory stage, with Rizespor yet to make a formal offer for the Nigerian striker.
