According to recent news reports, former Senator Dino Melaye has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His resignation letter, dated July 4, 2025, cited the party's "lack of potency and capacity" to address the nation's challenges. He stated that he could no longer, in good conscience, participate in its activities.

This follows the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the PDP. In a letter dated July 14, 2025, Atiku announced his departure, citing "irreconcilable differences" and a belief that the party had strayed from its founding principles.

These resignations are part of a broader trend of political realignments in Nigeria as the 2027 general elections approach.

Both Atiku Abubakar and Dino Melaye are reportedly joining or in talks with the new African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
