Which fruits to watch out for if you have diabetes.

Fruits are healthy and tasty, but some have more sugar than others. For people with diabetes, eating too much sugar can cause blood sugar levels to rise quickly. So, it’s important to know which fruits have the most sugar and to eat them carefully or avoid them.

Here are some fruits that have a high sugar content and may not be the best choice for diabetic patients:

1. Mangoes

Mangoes are delicious and juicy but packed with natural sugar. One medium mango can have around 45 grams of sugar almost like eating candy!

2. Grapes

These small fruits are easy to snack on but contain a lot of sugar. Just one cup of grapes has about 23 grams of sugar.

3. Cherries

Cherries taste sweet and fresh but can pack about 18 grams of sugar in one cup.

4. Bananas

Bananas are a great source of energy but also contain quite a bit of sugar around 14 grams in one medium banana.

5. Pineapple

Pineapple is tangy and sweet with about 16 grams of sugar per cup. Amongst others.

What Should Diabetic Patients Do?

If you have diabetes, it doesn’t mean you must avoid fruit completely. Fruits have important vitamins and fiber that help your body. But you should:

Choose fruits with lower sugar, like berries, apples, or pears.

Eat smaller portions of high-sugar fruits.

Pair fruits with protein or healthy fats to slow sugar absorption.

Talk to your doctor or dietitian for a plan that fits you.

Remember, balance is key! Enjoy fruit in a way that keeps your blood sugar steady and your body healthy.
