On the evening of Sunday, August 3, 2025, Nigeria's national women's basketball team, D'Tigress, secured their fifth consecutive FIBA Women's AfroBasket title by defeating Mali. This victory is their seventh overall and extends their unbeaten streak in the tournament to 29 games.

Following their historic win, President Bola Tinubu congratulated the team and expressed his desire to receive them in Abuja. While the government has not yet announced a specific date for the reception, it is expected to happen soon.

It is worth noting that President Tinubu recently conferred national honors, houses, and financial rewards on the Super Falcons, the Nigerian women's national football team, for their historic victory at the 2025 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Each Super Falcon player received the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), a three-bedroom apartment, and the naira equivalent of $100,000. It is highly anticipated that D'Tigress will receive similar recognition and rewards from the President for their outstanding achievement.
